Lily Collins to Play Audrey Hepburn in a «Breakfast at Tiffany’s» Project

The release date is not yet announced
For a long time, people online have debated just how much Lily Collins resembles Audrey Hepburn, especially following the release of the series Emily in Paris, in which she repeatedly paid homage to Hepburn’s iconic looks. Now, Collins will bring the legendary actress to life on screen, reports Variety.
«After nearly ten years of admiring Audrey, I can finally share this project. Words cannot express what I feel», Collins commented on the news.
The film is not a typical biopic. It tells the story behind the making of the cult classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s, in which Audrey Hepburn played the lead role. The screenplay is based on Sam Wasson’s book Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, «Breakfast at Tiffany’s», Dawn of the Modern Woman.

The project is being developed by Case Study Films in collaboration with Imagine Entertainment. Lily Collins will also serve as a producer. According to her, the film has been in development for nearly ten years. The screenplay is written by Alena Smith, known for the series Dickinson. The director and release date of the film have not yet been revealed.
Previously, in 2022, another Hepburn biopic was announced with Rooney Mara set to star, prepared by Luca Guadagnino and Apple Studios, but the project was never realized. Media also reported on the film Dinner with Audrey, about the friendship between Hepburn and designer Hubert de Givenchy. The lead role in that film will be played by Thomasin McKenzie.

Audrey Hepburn remains one of the icons of Hollywood’s Golden Age. She won an Oscar for Roman Holiday and also starred in films such as Sabrina and Funny Face. Breakfast at Tiffany’s was directed by Blake Edwards for Paramount, based on Truman Capote’s novella of the same name.

The film cemented Hepburn’s status as a style icon: her character Holly Golightly is a sophisticated New York socialite whose past complicates her personal happiness. The film was nominated for five Oscars and won awards for its music and song. In 2012, it was added to the U.S. National Film Registry.
