King Charles III honored Anna Wintour with the Order of the Companions of Honour

Now an honorary dame
The Editor-in-Chief of the American edition of Vogue, Anna Wintour, has been honored by the British royal family for her contributions to fashion. This was announced on the royal family’s official Instagram page.
Wintour was awarded the prestigious Order of the Companions of Honour. No more than 65 people, excluding the monarch, can hold this title at a time. The award ceremony took place at Buckingham Palace.
Wintour attended the event wearing a gray Alexander McQueen suit and her signature sunglasses. However, in accordance with protocol, she removed them while receiving the order.
She also wore an amethyst necklace that once belonged to Queen Mary, the great-grandmother of King Charles III. The Queen had received the amethysts from Princess Catherine of Württemberg. After Mary’s death, the jewelry was passed down to a family member who later sold it to Rorick Ravel.
Wintour stated that she was «completely surprised and overwhelmed» by the honor bestowed upon her by the British Crown.
«This convinces me even more that I still have much to achieve,» the journalist emphasized.
In 2017, Anna Wintour had already received the title of Dame from Queen Elizabeth II for her contributions to fashion and journalism. She recalled discussing with the late monarch how both of them had been working for a very long time.
«This morning, His Majesty asked me if I was planning to stop working, and I gave a clear «no,» Wintour added.
Anna Wintour is a British journalist who became the Editor-in-Chief of Vogue US in 1988, after previously leading the British edition. She was also the inspiration for the character Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada novel and its film adaptation.
