«It Was a Terrible Year»: Prince William on Coping with Kate Middleton’s Diagnosis

An Honest Confession
For the first time, Prince William, heir to the British throne, has shared how difficult it was to endure the past year after his wife, Kate Middleton, and father, Charles III, were diagnosed with cancer. He spoke about his feelings during a tour in South Africa, where he presented the Earthshot environmental award and held several meetings with activists and volunteers.
«Honestly? It was terrible. It was probably the hardest year of my life. So, it was very challenging to try to cope with everything else and stay on course. From a personal and family perspective, yes, it was brutal», — the Daily Mail quoted Prince William as saying.
The prince also expressed his pride in his wife and father, who have come a long way. According to him, Kate is doing well now.
In early February, it was reported that Charles III had been diagnosed with cancer, and in the spring, Kate Middleton, 42, was also diagnosed. Fortunately, by September, the royal shared the joyous news with fans that she had completed her chemotherapy. However, the monarch continues to fight the disease. But given the circumstances, the prognosis appears grim: a special plan has been developed in London in the event of the head of state’s passing.
According to political analysts, there are two dozen candidates to take the place of the ailing king. However, both experts and the majority of subjects agree that after the death of Charles III, the British throne will likely be taken by his eldest son — Prince William. His wife, Kate Middleton, would most likely receive the title of Queen Consort.
