«I’m more patient»: Hilary Swank on the perks of motherhood at 50

Interview for Women’s Health
The Million Dollar Baby star Hilary Swank graces the cover of the latest issue of Women’s Health magazine.
In a heartfelt interview, the 50-year-old actress opened up for the first time about her experience with motherhood after welcoming twins in 2023.
Hilary became pregnant at 47 and gave birth at 48 — she and her husband, entrepreneur Philip Schneider, welcomed a boy and a girl. During the interview, the star shared that she has no regrets about becoming a mother later in life.
«I’m not saying I consciously waited until 47, Swank joked. But it was a magical time in my life. Everything aligned perfectly, and it turned out to be the ideal moment to have children. I’m so grateful for that,» she said.
According to Hilary, becoming a mother later in life has given her a new perspective on parenting.
«I’m a completely different mom than I would’ve been even in my 40s. I’m more patient, more attentive. I’m truly curious about what drives my children — how they think, how they respond to the world,» she shared.
Swank also noted that her established career allows her to focus more fully on motherhood, without having to constantly juggle between work and family life.
As a reminder, Hilary met Philip on a blind date in November 2016 — five months after ending her three-month engagement to former professional tennis player Ruben Torres. Her previous marriage to Quiet Days in Hollywood co-star Chad Lowe lasted eight years and ended in 2007.
