How Meghan Markle teaches her children to value money

The children of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle do not have the carefree childhood typical of other wealthy families’ heirs. On the contrary – from a young age, they are being taught to work hard and are even already earning their own money.
Recently, Meghan Markle shared some interesting details about how she is raising six-year-old Prince Archie and four-year-old Princess Lilibet. According to the 43-year-old Duchess, her son and daughter help grow fruits and vegetables on their Montecito estate and then sell the produce at the local farmers’ market. In this way, Markle teaches her children «patience» and to «appreciate the food they eat».
«Everything comes at a price. And I think it’s important for children to understand that, especially when growing up in a home with certain privileges. Just like good manners or caring for the environment – everything has its value. We grow a lot of vegetables. Sometimes we host little sales at the farmers’ market», Meghan said on Emma Grede’s podcast Aspire.
The Duchess also added that she tries to teach Archie and Lilibet how to manage the money they earn wisely, instead of seeing it as an endless resource. «We usually have conversations, and I ask them: «What are you going to do with the money from the produce you just sold?» the actress explained. She believes such activities encourage children to make their own decisions without fear and teach them responsibility.
Meghan also recalled how she herself began earning money as a schoolgirl – at that time she made and sold hair scrunchies for a dollar. Later, the future wife of the prince did calligraphy work, creating wedding invitations for students.
