Elon Musk tops the list
Forbes USA has released its updated ranking of the world’s richest people. The 39th edition of the list includes a record-breaking 3,028 billionaires — the highest number since the list was first published in 1987. The total combined net worth of the world’s billionaires has reached an all-time high of $16.1 trillion.
The ranking was published on Forbes’ official website.
In 2025, the top spot was claimed by Elon Musk (Tesla and SpaceX), who increased his fortune by 75% to $342 billion.
Mark Zuckerberg holds second place with a net worth of $216 billion.

Third place goes to Jeff Bezos ($215 billion), followed by Larry Ellison ($192 billion) and Bernard Arnault & family ($178 billion).

Forbes also noted that 288 new billionaires joined the list this year. Among them are musician Bruce Springsteen, Chipotle founder Steve Ells, Alphabet/Google CEO Sundar Pichai, actor and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Scale AI co-founder Alexandr Wang.

The United States remains the country with the most billionaires — 902 in total — whose combined wealth amounts to $6.75 trillion. China ranks second (450 billionaires), and India is third (205 billionaires).
