First visit: Prince William arrives in Brazil

A journey without his wife
Prince William has embarked on his first official visit to Brazil. The heir to the British throne arrived in Rio de Janeiro to attend the Earthshot Prize 2025 ceremony – an environmental award established to support innovations aimed at protecting the planet.

During his five-day stay in Rio de Janeiro, the prince visited the city’s most iconic landmarks – including the Christ the Redeemer statue, where he recreated one of the legendary images of his mother, Princess Diana. It was here, in April 1991, that Lady Di took one of her most famous photographs during her official visit to Brazil.

The heir to the monarchy was also photographed on the balcony of the shrine overlooking Rio de Janeiro – the same spot where Princess Diana once stood.
Later, William attended the Earthshot Prize award ceremony held in Rio. The event gathered international stars, among them singer Kylie Minogue.

The prize, launched by the prince in 2020, annually honors the most impactful environmental initiatives dedicated to restoring nature, cleaning the oceans, combating climate change, and promoting sustainable development.

For the occasion, the 43-year-old Prince of Wales opted for an elegant velvet tuxedo by Tom Ford.
