First trailer for Michael Jackson biopic released

Premiere – April 24, 2026
The first official trailer for «Michael» has been released online – a biographical film dedicated to the life and legacy of one of the most famous performers of all time, Michael Jackson.
The drama promises not only to showcase the King of Pop’s most iconic performances but also to delve into the complex, often contradictory world of the artist, revealing «the very difficult life» of Michael Jackson.
The lead role is played by 29-year-old Jaafar Jackson – the musician and dancer’s nephew. The cast also includes Colman Domingo, Laura Harrier, and Nia Long.
The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua, known for «Training Day», «The Magnificent Seven», and «The Equalizer» trilogy. The screenplay was written by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan («Gladiator», «The Aviator»).
The short trailer features several memorable scenes – from a recreation of the legendary Thriller music video to dynamic dance sequences and the signature costumes that became symbols of Jackson’s style and era.
The film is set to premiere on April 24, 2026, though rumors in the industry suggest the release could be postponed due to new allegations linked to Jackson’s name. Despite the controversy, studios Lionsgate (domestic release) and Universal (international distribution) are placing high hopes on the project. Analysts predict that «Michael» could gross over one billion dollars worldwide.
