Fashion lesson: how Kate Middleton masters the art of autumn layering

Take note!
Layering is a timeless styling tool for creating chic autumn looks. The idea lies in combining multiple pieces of clothing that harmonize with one another, resulting in outfits that are both elegant and comfortable.
This season, you can throw a blazer over a dress, add a vest, wrap yourself in a scarf, slip on a hat and gloves – and look not like a fashion victim, but like a street style icon straight from Milan Fashion Week.
Designers this year have fully embraced the art of layering: the runways are brimming with creativity – from sheer skirts worn over jeans to blazers layered on top of hoodies. It’s more than just a trend; it’s a new form of self-expression. The golden rule of layering: each piece should be visible and complement the others in texture, color, and shape.

Kate Middleton recently offered a perfect example of this trend. The Duchess combined three key items: a black turtleneck, a gray cardigan from With Nothing Underneath, and a dark olive jacket by the British heritage brand Barbour, known for its practical and timeless designs. She completed the look with a Ralph Lauren tweed skirt in a deep brown hue – a refined touch in true «country chic» style.

In this outfit, the wife of Prince William visited a linen farm in Northern Ireland, where she met the owners – Helen Keys, recipient of the Order of the British Empire, and Charlie Mallon.

During the visit, the Princess of Wales tried her hand at operating a vintage flax-processing machine and learned about the full production cycle – from seed to finished fiber.
