David Beckham to become guest editor of rural life magazine

The footballer continues the tradition of royalty
Former England captain David Beckham will be the guest editor of a special edition of Country Life magazine, dedicated to his 50th birthday, according to the Daily Mail. The issue will be published on October 22, 2025.
This year has been especially eventful for the sports star: earlier this month, he was among the honorary guests at the King’s birthday celebration, and he is also expected to receive a knighthood soon.
Beckham’s involvement in the anniversary edition of Country Life continues a tradition started by members of the British royal family. King Charles III guest-edited the magazine twice — for his 65th birthday in 2013 and again for his 70th in 2018.
In 2020, a special edition was curated by Queen Elizabeth II, and in 2022, Queen Camilla also took on the role of guest editor to mark her 75th birthday. Her issue broke sales records and sold out instantly.
According to Country Life editor-in-chief Mark Hedges, Beckham is a devoted reader of the magazine:
«He reads the magazine from cover to cover. I’m absolutely delighted that David has agreed to be our guest editor — especially for my 1,000th issue as editor. I know he has a deep love for the countryside, which has become his passion since retiring from professional football,» Hedges said.
Beckham’s connection to rural life began in 2016, when he and Victoria Beckham purchased a luxurious estate in the Cotswolds for 12 million pounds. Since then, their family has spent increasing amounts of time surrounded by nature, enjoying a peaceful lifestyle away from the city.
