Conor McGregor found guilty of rape

He will pay compensation
Irish fighter and former UFC champion in two weight categories, Conor McGregor, has been found guilty of rape. A Dublin court ordered the 36-year-old athlete to pay the victim nearly €250,000 in compensation, according to The Guardian.
According to the plaintiff, Nikita Hand, the incident occurred in a Dublin hotel in December 2018. She and her friend joined McGregor’s party, where the group consumed alcohol and illegal substances. Later that evening, Conor began making advances toward Hand, and after several refusals, she stopped resisting out of fear for her life. The plaintiff submitted medical evidence from shortly after the incident, which documented clear signs of violence on her body, including bruises on her neck and scratches.
McGregor admitted to having a sexual encounter with the plaintiff but denied the rape allegations, claiming that the act was consensual and accusing the woman of extortion.
However, a jury found him guilty and ordered him to pay substantial compensation to the victim. The fighter stated that he intends to appeal the decision.
«I am disappointed that the jury did not hear all the evidence gathered. I am now with my family, focused on my future. Thank you all for your support», — McGregor commented.
Notably, McGregor was supported in court by his fiancée, Dee Devlin, with whom he has had four children during their 16-year relationship.
