Celine Dion may perform at Eurovision 37 years after her victory

Singer Celine Dion may perform at the 69th Eurovision Song Contest, which will take place in Basel, Switzerland. This was reported by The Sun and Swiss outlet Blick, citing insider information.

According to journalists, Celine has been in talks for several weeks with the organizers of Eurovision 2025 — the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Swiss broadcaster SRG SSR. Her appearance is being discussed for both the first semi-final on May 13 and the grand final on May 17, where she is reportedly allocated a special two-minute segment.

Orchestral rehearsals have already taken place in Basel for the performance, which is apparently being prepared specifically for Dion. Interestingly, the singer herself was not present — her vocal part was performed by a stand-in, further fueling speculation about her possible return to the stage, but also indicating the cautious approach taken by her team.

Show director Yves Schifferle confirmed on the podcast «The Euro Trip» that negotiations with Dion’s representatives are ongoing. However, a final decision has not yet been made — it will depend on the singer’s health. Her team emphasizes the right to cancel the performance at any moment if her condition requires it.

As a reminder, last summer the «My Heart Will Go On» singer publicly revealed her diagnosis. She is battling a severe autoimmune disease affecting the central nervous system. Due to treatment, she canceled around 40 concerts. In the documentary «I Am: Celine Dion», the artist shared what happens during one of her attacks.

Last year, Dion managed a brief return to the stage, performing at the opening ceremony of the 33rd Summer Olympics. However, the moment was clouded by controversy, as she was suspected of lip-syncing.

Regarding Eurovision, Dion last took to its stage 37 years ago when she won the contest with «Ne partez pas sans moi» in 1988. She is expected to perform that very song in 2025.
