The luxury real estate market on Lake Wörthersee is once again showing signs of revival. After a prolonged hiatus, a high-profile sale has taken place: Angerer Castle in Pörtschach has changed hands. According to land registry data, the estate was acquired by German entrepreneurs. Market sources indicate the transaction amounted to approximately 32 million euros. The seller was Thomas Hopfgartner, founder of the Living Deluxe agency.

The castle’s history dates back to the late 19th century: it was built in 1895 based on a design by architect Alexander Graf, who also worked on the Vienna Volksoper building. As early as the 1880s, the family of Imperial Councilor Karl Angerer moved from Vienna to Pritschitz, where the residence—then known as «Wörthersee Castle» — was established.
Later, Commercial Councilor Alexander Angerer, the family’s son, went down in history as one of the pioneers of sailing on Lake Wörthersee. The most recent owner of the estate was the Klagenfurt businesswoman Hildegard Mosser-Botzenhart.

The Pörtschach district has long been considered a hub for prestigious real estate. At one time, the singer Peter Alexander owned a villa here, and his neighbors included the jeweler Hans Schullin. The sale of Angerer Castle stands as one of the most notable transactions in the Austrian luxury market in recent years, firmly re-establishing the location’s status as a magnet for major investment.
