The frontman of the legendary band Metallica, James Hetfield, proposed to his partner in a truly original and daring way. The 62-year-old musician asked for the hand of his beloved, designer Adriana Gillett, right underwater during a shark-diving experience.

Adriana shared the joyful news on social media, revealing more details. It turns out that the Metallica frontman had organized a vacation for her, the highlight of which was a dive with whale sharks to celebrate her birthday.

During the dive, the musician pulled out a sign that read: «Adriana Gillett, will you marry me?».

«The best birthday surprise one could ever imagine. Swimming with whale sharks on Friday the 13th and the most romantic proposal. In a sea full of fish, we found each other», Adriana wrote in a touching caption to the photo.

The couple’s relationship became public only recently, in 2023. Previously, James Hetfield had been married to Francesca Tomasi for over 25 years, but the couple separated in 2022. He has three adult children.
