Amy Schumer divorces her husband after seven years of marriage

For quite some time, rumors had been circulating online that Amy Schumer, the star of I Feel Pretty, and her husband, chef Chris Fischer, were no longer together. The speculation was fueled by the fact that the actress removed all photos with her spouse from social media and stopped wearing her wedding ring.
Sources close to Schumer claimed that Fischer was rarely at home, and that tensions escalated further after the actress lost a noticeable amount of weight with the help of an Ozempic analogue. Amy herself did not deny that she had tried the original medication as well, but discontinued it due to side effects – most notably severe nausea.
The rumors were officially confirmed the day before yesterday. On her Instagram page, Amy Schumer shared a post announcing that she and Chris Fischer had made the «difficult decision» to part ways after seven years of marriage.
«We love each other very much and will continue to raise our son together. We would appreciate it if people respected our privacy during this challenging time», the actress wrote.
Staying true to herself, Schumer added a touch of humor to the statement:
«This isn’t because I lost a few pounds. Friendship, love, and respect! Family is forever».
It remains unclear whether the former spouses will be able to separate amicably or whether the divorce will turn into yet another high-profile celebrity dispute involving the division of assets and custody arrangements. Amy Schumer’s net worth is estimated at around $45 million, earned largely through her stand-up work and projects for Netflix. It has not been disclosed whether the couple had a prenuptial agreement.
By way of reminder, Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer married in February 2018 – just three months after they began dating. The following spring, the couple welcomed their son, Gene. The actress has spoken openly about how difficult the IVF-assisted pregnancy was for her and has said she does not plan to go through that experience again.
