Austrian pop star Melissa Naschenweng, known to fans as «Alpine Barbie,» became the subject of discussion following her performance at the Schlagerbooom Open Air show in Kitzbühel on June 21. The artist once again faced a wave of criticism regarding her stage outfit and performance style.
Melissa appeared on stage in a bright yellow dress with her signature accordion. Her show was accompanied by charismatic dancers in leather trousers, creating a lively atmosphere. At the height of the performance, the singer dramatically tore off her dress, revealing sparkling pink lingerie — which sparked mixed reactions online.
Despite many positive comments and support from fans, there were also critics. One comment read: «Sorry, honestly, I preferred your earlier performances — they were more genuine and closer to Alpine traditions. Now everything seems too showy…»
Melissa did not leave this unanswered. On her Instagram, she confidently stated:
«I wear this, I live this, I stand for this. As Taylor Swift said: Shake it off.»
The singer continues to defend women’s right to express themselves on stage, regardless of outdated ideas of «proper» behavior.
