Jedleseer Großkirtag
From 4 to 6 September, Floridsdorf will host the 154th edition of its traditional family fair. The programme includes fairground rides, a dedicated children’s area, live music, food and entertainment for the whole family.

A children’s version of «The Magic Flute» at the Schönbrunn Marionette Theatre
The Schönbrunn Palace Marionette Theatre will present a child-friendly version of Mozart’s opera «The Magic Flute». The performance lasts approximately 75 minutes, including a 15-minute interval, and is recommended for children aged three and over.
Performances in September are scheduled for 4, 6, 11, 13, 18, 20, 25 and 27 September. Each performance begins at 16:00.

REMASURI — Wiener Sinne
On 5 September, Wollzeile will be transformed into the setting for a major street festival. Visitors can enjoy performances by musicians and dancers, craft stalls, food and a dedicated children’s programme.
The festival will run along Wollzeile, with the main stage located near the Simpl cabaret theatre.

Wiener Feuerwehrfest
From 11 to 13 September, Vienna’s Central Fire Station will host a free festival marking the 340th anniversary of the city’s professional fire brigade.
Children will have the chance to try «putting out a fire» with a real fire hose and ride up on a turntable ladder. The programme will also include demonstrations and an exhibition of historic firefighting vehicles.

Sportfreunde-Kinder Charity-Kinderlauf
A charity race for children will take place at the LA Zentrum sports centre on 12 September. Distances vary according to age — from a short race of approximately 20 metres for the youngest participants to a 1.2-kilometre course for older children.
A warm-up will be held before the races, and every participant will receive a medal and a small gift.
When: 12 September; the event begins at 09:00, with children’s races expected to start at around 10:00

«Schattenparty» at the LILARUM theatre
Vienna’s LILARUM puppet theatre will present «Schattenparty». The production features five «invisible» puppeteers and is accompanied by original music.
The performance lasts approximately 35 minutes and is followed by a break. The theatre’s detailed event page recommends the production for children aged four and over.
A special offer will be available from 13 to 27 September: children who bring a bag of chestnuts to a daytime performance may receive a free ticket. Places are limited, so advance booking is recommended. Adults must purchase a regular ticket.

Wiener Kaiser Wiesn
From 24 September to 11 October, the Wiener Kaiser Wiesn will take place on the Kaiserwiese in the Prater — Vienna’s answer to Oktoberfest.
The festival grounds will feature three large tents and five Alpine-style lodges. Admission is free during the day, while tickets are required for evening programmes in the main tents.
An important rule for families: after 18:00, children under six are not permitted inside the festival tents or Almen lodges.

Bee Happy Run
The environmentally focused Bee Happy Run will take place in the Prater on 26 September. Children will run for 15 minutes around a 750-metre circuit.
Every completed lap helps fund the protection of 15 square metres of flowering habitat for bees around Vienna for one year.
The younger participants in the Minis category will start at 09:30, followed by the Juniors at 10:00.

Roman Festival at Carnuntum
On 5 and 6 September, the Carnuntum Archaeological Park will host a festival dedicated to life in Ancient Rome.
Visitors will encounter legionaries, gladiators and barbarians, discover ancient Roman crafts and take part in a special children’s programme.

Medieval Festival in Eggenburg
On 12 and 13 September, Eggenburg’s historic centre will transport visitors back to the Middle Ages. The organisers have announced more than 150 programme highlights, including knightly displays, a craft market, music, theatrical performances and entertainment for children.
On 12 September, a special historic train will also run from Vienna Central Station to Eggenburg.

Some activities cost extra: standing admission to the knight tournament is €5, entry to the wall walk and tower is €2, and the fire show is €2.
Dragon Festival at Forchtenstein Castle
On 26 and 27 September, Forchtenstein Castle will host a children’s «Dragon Festival». The three-and-a-half-hour programme includes puzzles, workshops, a light show, a large inflatable attraction, face painting and a magic performance.
The ticket also includes a self-guided visit to the castle.
