Princess Diana’s brother is writing a book about her life, marriage and tragic death
He will tell his version of events
Princess Diana’s younger brother, Charles Spencer, is preparing a memoir about his sister. The book is titled «Swan Song: Diana, My Sister».
The book is due to be published by Penguin Michael Joseph on September 22, ahead of the 30th anniversary of Diana’s death, Deadline reports.
According to Charles Spencer, the decision to write the book was prompted by the media’s enduring interest in his sister. As the 30th anniversary of her death approaches, the Earl began receiving numerous interview requests once again. Ultimately, he decided not to comment on other people’s versions of events, but to share his own memories of Lady Di and address some of the more difficult periods in her life. These include her marriage to the then Prince Charles, relationships within the royal family and the events that followed the car crash in Paris.
«This convinced me once and for all to put my own thoughts and memories of my sister into writing, rather than once again feeling uncomfortable reading the views of other people — many of which are based on untruths that, over time, have come to be accepted as fact», Spencer explained.
The author promises to portray Diana not only as a world-famous princess, but also as an ordinary woman — with her own worries, doubts, strengths and distinctive sense of humour. He describes his sister as a charismatic, energetic and deeply emotional woman who, despite being constantly in the public eye, struggled with many personal doubts.

The memoir is expected to be translated into 12 languages.
Princess Diana died in Paris on August 31, 1997. She was 36 years old.
