Muse frontman Matt Bellamy files for divorce from model Elle Evans
After seven years of marriage
Muse frontman Matt Bellamy is divorcing model and actress Elle Evans. The 48-year-old musician filed for divorce in a Los Angeles court on August 12, citing «irreconcilable differences». He did not specify an exact date of separation in the court documents.
One of the key issues in the divorce proceedings is expected to be custody of the couple’s two children — six-year-old daughter Lovella and two-year-old son George. Bellamy is seeking sole legal and physical custody.
Evans, meanwhile, intends to challenge his request. In a statement to TMZ, she said she would fight for custody of their children and described the divorce as long overdue. According to the outlet, the model has 30 days to formally respond to her husband’s filing.
The couple also has a prenuptial agreement. According to the court documents, Bellamy is asking for Evans to receive financial support in accordance with its terms.
News of the couple’s split emerged before the divorce proceedings began. In June, Bellamy publicly confirmed for the first time that he and Evans had separated in the summer of 2025. The musician did not disclose further details, saying only that a combination of unexpected circumstances had led to the decision. He said that during that period, his children and maintaining stability in their lives became his top priority.
Bellamy also channelled his personal experiences into his music. The musician previously revealed that he began working on new Muse material last autumn, with events in his personal life finding their way into the band’s album The Wow! Signal.
Matt Bellamy and Elle Evans became engaged in December 2017 and married on August 10, 2019. The musician filed for divorce just two days after their seventh wedding anniversary.
The couple welcomed their daughter Lovella in June 2020 and their son George in May 2024. Even after their separation, Bellamy and Evans continued spending time together with their children — in May this year, they celebrated their son’s second birthday together.
Bellamy also has a 15-year-old son, Bingham, with actress Kate Hudson. The couple were engaged but never married — they separated in 2014. Following their split, Bellamy and Hudson remained on good terms and continued to co-parent their son.
