Inside the home where Donald Trump spent his childhood

From a neglected property to a nearly $2 million residence
The house where U.S. President Donald Trump spent the first years of his life has found a new owner. Following an extensive renovation, the historic residence in the New York City borough of Queens is now in the final stages of being sold.
The Tudor-style home was built in 1940 by Donald Trump’s father, real estate developer Fred Trump. The family settled in the prestigious neighborhood of Jamaica Estates, where they lived until 1950. It was in this house that the future president spent his first four years before the family moved to a larger home nearby.

The property’s current owner, real estate developer Tommy Lin, purchased it in March 2025 for $835,000. According to PropertyShark, the house was in extremely poor condition at the time: the roof was leaking, the yard had become overgrown, and a group of feral cats had taken up residence there. Despite its condition, Lin decided to restore the historic property.
«The only reason I took on this project is because it’s Trump’s childhood home», he previously told Mansion Global.

Lin spent eight months and approximately $500,000 renovating the nearly 3,100-square-foot home, which features five bedrooms. Every sign of damage was repaired, while the interiors were completely redesigned and transformed into a modern living space.
Once the renovation was complete, the home was first listed for sale in November last year with an asking price of $2.3 million. It was later removed from the market several times before being relisted at a lower price. Most recently, it was offered for just under $2 million.

«The home attracted significant interest because of its historical significance, distinctive character, prime Jamaica Estates location, and high-quality renovation», said real estate agent Joe Zhu.
According to Zhu, the buyer was particularly drawn to the rare opportunity to own a property connected to the early life of one of America’s most well-known political figures.

As the transaction has not yet been finalized, neither the buyer’s identity nor the final sale price has been disclosed.
