Nicole Kidman plans to become a death doula

The actress has already begun training
Hollywood actress and Academy Award winner Nicole Kidman has revealed that she intends to pursue a new professional path – becoming a death doula. She shared this during a talk at the University of San Francisco, noting that she has already started her training.
Death doulas support people in the terminal stage of illness, helping them and their loved ones cope with fear, anxiety, and emotional distress. Unlike medical professionals, they focus primarily on psychological and spiritual support.

According to Kidman, the decision was prompted by a personal tragedy – the death of her mother in 2024. The actress admitted that in her final days, her mother often felt lonely, and despite their desire to help, the family could not be constantly by her side. This experience led her to reflect on the importance of support at the end of life.
She emphasized that she does not see this new direction as a passing interest, but rather as part of her personal growth and a way to help people during the most difficult moments of their lives.

Kidman is not the only figure in the film industry to take an interest in this field. Director Chloé Zhao has previously spoken about a similar experience, explaining it as a way to overcome the fear of death and develop a healthier attitude toward it.
