Filming has begun in the Czech Republic
Apple Original Films has unveiled the first still from the new thriller by director Martin Scorsese, titled What Happens at Night.
The film stars Hollywood actors Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence in the leading roles. In the debut image, they appear set against a snow-covered landscape, captured in a vintage atmosphere reminiscent of the past century.
Filming began in late February in the Czech Republic. The film is an adaptation of Peter Cameron’s novel of the same name.
At the center of the story is an American couple who travel to a small European town to adopt a child. However, after checking into a strange, cave-like hotel, they encounter a series of eccentric characters – from an unconventional singer to a mysterious healer. As the story unfolds, it becomes increasingly clear that the couple knows far less about each other than they once believed.
In addition to DiCaprio and Lawrence, the film will also feature Mads Mikkelsen, Patricia Clarkson, and Jared Harris.
Martin Scorsese serves not only as the film’s director but also as its producer. The release date has not yet been announced.
