28 years later: Gwyneth Paltrow recreates her iconic look

At a wine brand launch in Colorado
Actress and Goop founder Gwyneth Paltrow attended the presentation of the Meiomi Club Noir wine project in Colorado. For the occasion, the 53-year-old star chose a vintage white maxi dress by Ralph Lauren, pairing it with a matching wool coat and understated jewelry.

It was in this very dress that Paltrow appeared at the 1999 London premiere of Shakespeare in Love. The film earned her worldwide acclaim and the Academy Award for Best Actress, ultimately cementing her status as a leading Hollywood star.

Directed by John Madden and written by Tom Stoppard, the film is a fictionalized account of William Shakespeare’s youth and the imagined origins of «Romeo and Juliet». The picture won seven Academy Awards and became one of the most widely discussed cinematic projects of the late 1990s.

By revisiting the archival look 28 years later, Paltrow seemed to underscore the cyclical nature of fashion and her own commitment to timeless elegance. The snow-white silhouette with its soft lines still feels contemporary today, while the actress appears strikingly at ease in an outfit so closely tied to her personal history. The same calm, confident gaze, the same golden curls – it is as though time has only added depth to the image.
