Donald and Melania Trump at the private premiere of the film «Melania»

Box office success in doubt
Today, the documentary Melania, dedicated to Melania Trump, is released in the United States. However, international media are already approaching it with skepticism and predict a commercial failure. Despite a substantial marketing budget of nearly €30 million, analysts expect opening weekend earnings of only around €4.2 million, reports BILD.
The situation in the United Kingdom is particularly telling. In London, only a single ticket was sold for the first Friday screening at 3:10 PM at the Vue Cinema in Islington. A Vogue correspondent wryly noted, «After watching the trailer, I know less about this woman’s life than before». BILD’s editorial team considers this indicative of a wider trend for documentaries in the streaming era, when audiences are increasingly skipping cinemas for non-fiction films.

Additionally, the premiere coincided with a nationwide strike against the immigration agency ICE, and some members of the production team refused to have their names listed in the credits due to the tense political climate of recent months.
This likely also explains the private nature of yesterday’s premiere: journalists from major U.S. outlets, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Associated Press, and Vanity Fair, were not admitted. The event at the Trump Kennedy Center was covered only by reporters from the Trump-friendly network One America News.
Nevertheless, the film is scheduled for a theatrical run of at least three weeks, after which it will be available on Amazon’s Prime Video platform.
In front of photographers, Melania Trump appeared in a closed black dress with a cinched waist belt, completing the understated look with pointed-toe pumps in matching tones. Donald Trump opted for classic elegance – a blue suit, white shirt, and tie.
