Sofie Royer Receives an EU Music Award

Congratulations!
Viennese singer Sofie Royer has become the recipient of the prestigious Music Moves Europe Award — a European Union prize that honors the continent’s most promising emerging artists. Along with the award, the 34-year-old performer received a €10,000 grant to support the development of her international career.

Sofie Royer has already released three albums — Cult Survivor, Harlequin, and Young-Girl Forever — and has shared the stage with such stars as Lana Del Rey and the band Air. The musician is of Austrian-Iranian descent.
This summer, Royer will serve as a co-curator of the Popfest Wien festival, which will take place at Karlsplatz in Vienna from July 23 to 26. She will be shaping the program together with composer and producer Wolfgang Lehmann.
This year’s Music Moves Europe Awards ceremony was held in Groningen, the Netherlands. Alongside Sofie Royer, the honors went to Camille Yembe from Belgium, Carpetman from Ukraine, Della from Cyprus, and Sari Julia from the Netherlands. Spanish singer Lia Kali took home two awards at once — the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Choice Award, voted for by music lovers from across Europe.
