Sophie Turner Unveils Her First Look as Lara Croft

A Rival to Jolie

Sophie Turner is ready to step into the role of the legendary Lara Croft. Amazon MGM Studios has released the first still from the new series in the Tomb Raider franchise, and fans are already comparing the actress’s look to those of her predecessors — Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander.

In the image, the Game of Thrones star recreates the heroine’s iconic outfit: a turquoise tank top, short shorts, fingerless gloves, and signature glasses with a reddish tint. Turner has taken her preparation seriously — she is studying the source material by playing the games and reading Lara Croft comics. Notably, the actress has deliberately avoided watching the films starring previous actresses in the role. Her goal is to create an original interpretation, free from others’ influence.

The project promises to be star-studded: the series is written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, with Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, and other renowned actors joining the cast. Although filming is set to begin soon, the release date has yet to be announced.
