Kristen Stewart says she wants to direct a Twilight Remake

What do you think of the idea?
Following her successful directorial debut with the biographical drama The Chronology of Water, which was released in limited North American theaters last December, Kristen Stewart has admitted that she would not mind returning to the story that made her an international star. The actress has expressed her willingness to direct a feature-length remake of the iconic vampire saga Twilight.
According to Stewart, she is serious about the idea and ready to immerse herself once again in the world of Bella and Edward – ideally with a substantial budget and strong support from the fan community.

«I would really love to do that. I admire what Catherine Hardwicke did, and I appreciate the work of Chris Weitz and all the directors involved in these films. They were strange, a little wild, and very much of their moment – made at a time when no one yet understood what they would become, before they reached massive popularity», the actress said.
Given that Robert Pattinson has also recently spoken about his desire to reprise the role of Edward Cullen, such a development no longer seems entirely far-fetched.

That said, a remake is unlikely in the near future: Netflix is already expanding the Twilight universe with an animated series inspired by the saga. However, producers now know that Kristen Stewart would be ready to lead the project should the opportunity arise.

The first Twilight film was released in 2008, when Stewart was 18 years old. The final installment of the franchise premiered in 2012. Over the years, the film series has grossed more than $3 billion worldwide.
