Prince William shares his key rule for raising children

«Never hide anything»
Earlier, we reported on Prince William’s first official visit to Brazil. The heir to the British throne arrived in Rio de Janeiro to take part in the Earthshot Prize 2025 award ceremony.
During the trip, the son of King Charles III had an open and candid conversation with journalist Luciano Huck. As a father of three, he spoke about the guiding principle he follows in raising his children:
«We have decided not to hide anything from our children and to tell them both good and bad news. Otherwise, a child may feel that something is being deliberately kept from them. We explain why certain events happen and why they can be upsetting. Of course, there are many questions we cannot answer. But I believe all parents go through this. No one has ever written a textbook called «How to Be a Parent» – there is no manual with clear rules about what to say and what not to say. We have chosen to talk about everything, but in words they can understand».

The Prince also explained why he still does not allow his eldest son, George, to use a mobile phone:
«When George enters secondary school, we might give him a phone with limited internet access. We are already explaining to him why we believe this is the right decision, and I think he understands us. With full access to the Internet, children may come across things they really shouldn’t see».
