Adele makes her acting debut

In Tom Ford’s new film
British singer Adele, who announced a break from her music career in November last year, is preparing for her first appearance on the big screen. The artist will star in Tom Ford’s new film Cry to Heaven, an adaptation of Anne Rice’s 1982 novel of the same name – the author best known for Interview with the Vampire. The news was reported by Deadline.
Adele’s co-stars include Hunter Schafer, Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Colin Firth, Owen Cooper, Paul Bettany, Thandiwe Newton, George MacKay, and Mark Strong.

Set in 18th-century Italy, the story follows two young men: 15-year-old Venetian aristocrat Tonio Treschi and Guido Maffeo, a peasant from Calabria. Both dream of finding fame in the world of opera.
The film is scheduled for release in the fall of 2026.
Tom Ford retains full creative control over the project: he serves as director and producer through his own company Fade To Black, wrote the screenplay, and is also co-financing the film.

Cry to Heaven marks Ford’s third directorial effort. His previous works include the drama A Single Man (2009), starring Colin Firth, and the thriller Nocturnal Animals (2016), featuring Aaron Taylor-Johnson. The latter won the Grand Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival and received nine BAFTA nominations as well as three Golden Globe nods.
