Beyoncé Wins First-Ever Emmy Award
For Costumes in the «Beyoncé Bowl»
Beyoncé has claimed the first Emmy Award of her career. The Television Academy announced the initial wave of winners for the 77th ceremony in its special categories, and the global superstar was among the honorees.
This time, the accolade was not for her music, but for her work on the costumes for her 2024 NFL halftime show, released on Netflix under the title Beyoncé Bowl. The award recognized a collaborative effort with costume designer Shiona Turini, assistants Erica Rice and Molly Peters, supervisor Chelsea Stabell, and atelier director Timothy White.
Beyoncé won in the category Outstanding Costumes for Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Programming, part of the so-called “jury awards” block, which celebrates specialists in niche creative fields. These winners are traditionally announced in advance to highlight their behind-the-scenes contributions.
The award presentation will take place September 6–7 at the Creative Arts Emmys. On September 14, during the Primetime broadcast, Beyoncé will find out if she secures a second win in another category — Outstanding Variety Special.
Beyoncé Bowl, filmed in Houston, was a full-scale spectacle: wearing a cowboy hat and riding a horse, the artist performed tracks from her Cowboy Carter album — 16 Carriages, Ya Ya, Jolene, and Texas Hold ’Em — and shared the stage with Post Malone, Shaboozey, and her own daughter.
