Scarlett Johansson tops the list of highest-grossing actors in history

Films featuring her have grossed $14.8 billion

According to data from the project The Numbers, Scarlett Johansson has become the highest-grossing actress in film history, surpassing Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson. This result was achieved thanks to the successful launch of the new installment of the «Jurassic World: Rebirth» franchise, which brought in $318 million in its first six days in theaters.

In the movie, Scarlett Johansson plays Zora Bennett – an expert in covert operations and a former soldier who joins a team heading to one of the few remaining dinosaur-inhabited islands.

Despite this achievement, Johansson’s acting in the film did not receive high praise in reviews from industry media. Moreover, the project was described as «a good movie when the characters are silent».

In total, films featuring her have grossed $14.8 billion worldwide, with the majority coming from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and her role as Black Widow – $8.7 billion.

As a reminder, this is not Johansson’s first time topping rankings. In 2018 and 2019, she was already named the highest-paid actress of the year by Forbes.
