Designer Marina Hoermanseder accuses Jeanne Friot of plagiarism

Here’s why
Austrian designer Marina Hoermanseder has long made a name for herself in the fashion world. She first studied at the Vienna University of Economics and Business, and later, with her parents’ permission, pursued fashion design. She completed a four-year program at a fashion school in Berlin, where she stayed to work. She interned at the Alexander McQueen studio.

Her work is inspired by orthopedic corsets from the 18th and 19th centuries. She owns many books on the subject. Interestingly, in nearly every interview she mentions her fear of going to doctors.
The most recognizable element of her style is the use of leather straps and buckles. She creates everything from them – dresses, skirts, bracelets, smartphone cases, even hair clips.
She launched her own label in 2013. Her designs have been worn by stars like Lady Gaga, Heidi Klum, Rihanna, and others.

It seems that another designer – Jeanne Friot – took inspiration from her style. At Paris Fashion Week, models walked the runway in outfits that closely resembled Hoermanseder’s work – tight straps, numerous buckles, and bold colors.
«I don’t know how to explain what I saw on the Paris runway, which looks very much like what I’ve been doing for the past 10 years», Marina wrote with disbelief on her social media.
