King Charles III and Idris Elba announce Netflix film

Documentary project
King Charles III has announced a documentary project for Netflix in collaboration with British actor Idris Elba, star of «Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom» and «Three Thousand Years of Longing.»
The film will tell the story of The King’s Trust, the charitable organization founded by King Charles III (then Prince Charles) in 1976. Since then, the organization has been supporting young people from vulnerable communities.
Notably, Idris Elba himself was once one of those helped by The King’s Trust — the foundation provided him with educational funding that enabled him to pursue a career as a professional actor. Now Elba aims to share the organization’s work through the Netflix platform, according to Deadline.
«The Trust gave me an opportunity that changed my life. At a time when I had no resources to pursue my ambitions, they offered real, practical support — including financial help — that allowed me to take the first steps in building my career,» Elba commented.

The actor added that he now wants to help other talented young people achieve their goals and realize their ideas.
«Today, I am focused on creating the same opportunities for young people who are full of potential but lack access to it. Around the world, millions are still waiting for these doors to open. This documentary is about shining a light on what’s possible when that happens — and why the work of The King’s Trust remains so important,» Idris Elba said.
The documentary is scheduled to premiere in autumn 2026.
