U.S. President Donald Trump has stated he may consider pardoning rapper Sean Combs, known as P. Diddy, who is currently under investigation for serious allegations, including sexual assault, human trafficking, and racketeering. This was reported by The Washington Post.

The publication notes that Trump has repeatedly used his presidential pardon power to benefit his allies, celebrities, and friends. Recently, he pardoned rapper NBA YoungBoy, convicted of illegal gun possession, and reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley, found guilty of fraud and tax evasion.

On May 30, during a court hearing in Combs’ case in New York, Fox News journalist Peter Doocy asked Trump whether he might pardon the musician, with whom he once had friendly ties. Trump responded that he was open to considering it.

«I haven’t spoken to him in many years. He used to really like me. But I think when I went into politics, things changed between us. If I see that he’s being treated unfairly, I’ll consider a pardon — whether he likes me or not,» Trump said.

Trump’s remarks drew a reaction from well-known rapper 50 Cent (real name Curtis Jackson), who has long been at odds with P. Diddy. The artist stated that he would do everything possible to convince Trump not to pardon the controversial Sean Combs.

To recall, Sean Combs was arrested on September 16 following a months-long investigation into allegations of sexual assault and exploitation. He currently faces seven criminal charges. In the months that followed, several more lawsuits were filed in New York Supreme Court, one of which describes years of harassment by the musician.

Moreover, according to the investigation, Diddy organized parties with elements of orgies that allegedly involved celebrities such as Jay-Z, Ben Stiller, Ashton Kutcher, Paris Hilton, and Serena Williams. On October 1, another lawsuit was filed, including sexual assault allegations from 120 individuals.

Combs denies all allegations, but the court has twice denied him bail. He is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. His trial began on May 5.
