Hugh Jackman’s ex-wife reveals why she filed for divorce
Because of the actor’s infidelity
In 2023, the internet was shaken by the news that Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness were divorcing after 27 years of marriage.
That same year, rumors began to circulate that the «Deadpool & Wolverine» star had secretly started dating Broadway actress Sutton Foster, who also announced her divorce from her husband, screenwriter Ted Griffin, in 2023 after ten years of marriage. Two years later, the rumors were confirmed when paparazzi caught the couple on a walk in Santa Monica.
At the time, many claimed Jackman’s marriage ended due to his infidelity – which turned out to be true. Deborra-Lee Furness has now openly spoken about it. In an emotional statement to the Daily Mail, the 69-year-old star said she went through a «traumatic path of betrayal» that caused her deep pain.
«My heart and compassion go out to anyone who has gone through the traumatic path of betrayal. It’s a deep wound that hurts a lot, but I believe in higher powers and that they always work in our favor. This belief helped me survive the breakdown of a nearly 30-year marriage. Through this experience, I gained a lot of knowledge and wisdom. According to reports, Deborra-Lee Furness officially filed for divorce from Hugh Jackman two years after their actual separation. The couple reportedly reached a mutual agreement, including on child support and health insurance expenses.
To recap, Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness married in April 1996. In May 2000, they adopted a newborn son, Oscar Maximilian, and in July 2005, a second child, daughter Ava Eliot.
