«I couldn’t believe my eyes»: Beyoncé’s mother opens up about her breast cancer battle

Tina Knowles, mother of superstar singers Beyoncé and Solange, shared her personal breast cancer story in an interview with CBS Mornings, as reported by Rolling Stone.
In the conversation, Knowles revealed that she missed a routine mammogram during the COVID-19 pandemic and only saw a doctor in 2024. The screening uncovered two tumors — one benign and the other malignant.
«I’ve always tried to take care of myself. I just… couldn’t believe my eyes,» she told Gayle King.
In August, Tina underwent surgery to remove the cancerous tumor. She now says she is healthy and cancer-free.
Tina admitted that she was extremely anxious before the operation, but her daughters supported her throughout the ordeal.
«They just started joking,» she recalled.
Beyoncé and Solange sang her the song «Walk with Me,» trying to distract her from fearful thoughts.
«Today, I am cancer-free, and I’m very grateful that the disease was caught early. I’m sharing this story because I want to remind other women: don’t delay your checkups. We’re often busy, always in a rush, but we must find time for ourselves and our health,» she emphasized.
Tina Knowles is a well-known designer and businesswoman. She turned 71 in January. She has also appeared in Beyoncé’s music videos, including «Grown Woman» and «All Night,» and has participated in several television projects.
