Emily Ratajkowski condemned Blue Origin’s all-female crew after spaceflight

«This is the end of the world»
Earlier, we reported that on Monday, April 14, a New Shepard rocket from Blue Origin, owned by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, launched from a spaceport in Texas. Onboard was an all-female crew of six: Bezos’s fiancée Lauren Sanchez, pop star Katy Perry, TV host Gayle King, NASA guide Aisha Bowe, human rights activist Amanda Nguyen, and producer Keriann Flynn.

The rocket launched at 8:30 AM local time and reached the Kármán line – the internationally recognized boundary of space located about 100 kilometers above Earth’s surface. The entire flight lasted 11 minutes.

After the expedition returned to Earth, Emily Ratajkowski expressed her discontent. The 33-year-old model called the mission «the end of the world» and «absurd», highlighting the contradiction between proclaimed environmental concern and the company’s actions.
«To say you care about Mother Earth while blasting off into space on a ship built by a company that’s destroying the planet? It’s just absurd», she emphasized.

Actress Olivia Munn, named one of Time Magazine’s most influential women of 2025, had already criticized the spaceflight earlier in April.
«I know it’s probably not very cool to say. But there are so many other things going on in the world right now that are so important… What are you going to do in space? That’s a huge amount of money. You know, there are people who can’t even afford eggs», she said.

Writer Jenna Bush Hager called the crew’s pre-flight grooming routines inappropriate, noting that all six women had their hair and makeup done before going to space.

Lauren Sanchez has already responded to the criticism.
«I wish they would come to Blue Origin and see the thousands of employees who don’t just work here – they pour their hearts and souls into this vehicle. They love their work, they love the mission, and it means a lot to them», she emphasized.
