Reboot

Personnel rotations continue to stir the fashion industry. Last week, we reported that Jonathan Anderson had stepped down as the creative director of the Spanish fashion house Loewe after 11 years of work. Today, his successors have been announced: Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, as reported by WWD.

McCollough and Hernandez, founders of the New York brand Proenza Schouler, will officially take on their new roles on April 7. Meanwhile, after leaving Loewe, Anderson may become the creative director of Dior, the publication notes. Both brands are part of the French luxury conglomerate LVMH.

Loewe announced that McCollough and Hernandez will take full creative responsibility for all the brand’s collections, including women’s and men’s clothing, leather goods, and accessories. To take on their new roles, they will move from New York to Paris.

Pascal Lepoivre, CEO of the fashion house, explained why they chose McCollough and Hernandez:

«I will name just two factors: they are highly creative and entrepreneurial, with an interest and vision that extend beyond fashion into various cultural fields. They are also able to consider the diversity of markets and clients with whom we communicate. Their vision and creativity perfectly align with the principles of the house we have built, and I am delighted to see how they shape its future.»

Let us recall that the design duo of McCollough and Hernandez was born 23 years ago during their studies at the Parsons School of Design and Art in New York. It was there that they worked on their graduation collection, which became the debut for their joint brand Proenza Schouler.

The brand’s name comes from their mothers’ maiden names: Proenza from Hernandez’s mother and Schouler from McCollough’s mother. Before this, Jack McCollough interned at Marc Jacobs while still a student, and Lazaro Hernandez trained at Michael Kors.

Earlier this year, the designers left the creative team of their own brand, Proenza Schouler, remaining only on the company’s board of directors and as shareholders. At that time, rumors circulated that they would be appointed to Loewe.
