Ex-billionaire René Benko’s wife files for divorce

Creditors are watching the process
Following the collapse of his business empire and the arrest of former business magnate and founder of Signa Group, René Benko has suffered another setback — his wife, Nathalie Benko, has filed for divorce. According to sources close to her, the decision was driven by personal reasons — she no longer wants to subject herself and her family to stress. The couple married in 2010 and have three children.
It is known that after Signa’s bankruptcy, Nathalie Benko almost disappeared from the public eye. Last summer, she distanced herself from her husband’s financial problems, stating in an interview with Bild:
«I have nothing to do with my husband’s affairs.»
The family’s living conditions have also changed. After Benko’s arrest, his wife and children were forced to leave their luxurious 5,500-square-meter estate in Innsbruck-Igls. The property belongs to the Laura Privatstiftung foundation, which is currently considering options for selling it or converting it into a hotel.
The divorce proceedings have attracted the interest of creditors, who are already analyzing legal options to challenge the division of assets. However, it appears that Nathalie and René signed a prenuptial agreement, under which she is entitled to a monthly housing allowance of €3,000 and €8,500 in support. However, the contract does not grant her any shares in the company or foundation.
