Berlinale 2025: winners of the International Film Festival announced

Who won the «Golden Bear»?
A week before the Academy Awards, another major event in the world of cinema has concluded – the Berlin International Film Festival.
The prestigious Golden Bear was awarded to the Norwegian film Dream by Dag Johan Haugerud. The film is part of a trilogy following Sex and Love, which debuted at the Venice and Cannes Film Festivals last year.
The Grand Jury Prize went to the sci-fi drama Blue Trail by Brazilian director Gabriel Mascaro. The story follows a 77-year-old woman who refuses to move into a nursing home and embarks on a journey through the Amazon rainforest.
The Jury Prize was awarded to The Message by Ivan Fanda, a film centered around a young girl with the superpower to communicate with animals.
The Silver Bear for Best Director was presented to Chinese filmmaker Huo Meng for his film Living on Earth, which depicts the life of a simple rural family in the 1980s.
The Best Leading Actress award went to Australian actress Rose Byrne for her performance in If I Had Legs, I’d Kick You. Rose is known for her roles in Instant Family, Insidious, and Bridesmaids. Meanwhile, Best Supporting Actor was awarded to Andrew Scott for his role in Blue Moon.
The Best Screenplay award was given to Romanian filmmaker and screenwriter Radu Jude for his work on Continental 25. One of his recent works, the dark comedy Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World, premiered at the 2023 Locarno Film Festival.
The award for Outstanding Artistic Contribution was given to Glass Tower, a film about a young girl on the set of The Snow Queen.
It is worth noting that the Berlin Film Festival also featured the screening of Time Ribbon by Kateryna Gornostai, which, instead of an award, received a 10-minute standing ovation.
