French actress Isabelle Huppert attended the premiere of the play Norma in Vienna

An unexpected visit
On February 16, the premiere of Vincenzo Bellini’s opera Norma took place at the MusikTheater an der Wien. The leading roles were performed by Lithuanian opera diva Asmik Grigorian and British opera singer Freddie De Tommaso.

One of the first to see the performance was French actress Isabelle Huppert.
After the show, Isabelle met with Asmik Grigorian and expressed her admiration:
«What an evening, what a wonderful production! I have always admired Asmik, but tonight surpassed everything,» Huppert said.

Notably, Isabelle Huppert is currently in Vienna for the filming of a movie about the infamous «Blood Countess» Elizabeth Báthory. According to legend, the 16th-century Hungarian countess killed over 600 virgin girls and bathed in their blood to stay eternally young. She is also listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the most prolific female serial killer of all time.
The Blood Countess is expected to be released in Austrian cinemas in 2026.
