Iris Apfel’s wardrobe to be auctioned at Christie’s

Unique lots
Iris Apfel is a true icon who turned eclecticism into an art form. Bold jewelry, vibrant fabrics, dramatic glasses — her style has always been a symbol of individuality and freedom. She blurred the lines between fashion and art, proving that true chic lies in the courage to be yourself.
Fashion enthusiasts will have the chance to get close to—or even own — a piece of her legacy. The auction house Christie’s will present the Unapologetically Iris collection, featuring over 200 unique items from the fashion icon’s personal archive.
The collection includes:
- A Dior Haute Couture coat with feather detailing
- A vibrant shirt dress by Carolina Herrera
- A set of 18 pairs of glasses from her collaboration with Zenni.
In addition to fashion treasures, the auction will also feature paintings and interior pieces, including a bar shaped like an ostrich (Italy, 1975), estimated at $6,000 – $8,000.
The auction will begin on January 28 and end in February, shortly before the anniversary of the collection’s owner’s death. American designer Iris Apfel died on March 1, 2024, at her home in Palm Beach, Florida. She was 102 years old.
