Golden Globe Awards 2025: winners announced

An important event in the world of cinema
While we were sleeping, the 82nd Golden Globe Awards took place in Los Angeles, recognizing the outstanding films of 2024 and those who worked on them. The event was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, a traditional venue for the Golden Globes. The event was hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, who became the first woman to host the award alone.

The absolute triumph of the evening was the film «Emilia Perez» by French director Jacques Audiard, winning four awards, including two major ones: «Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy» and «Best Supporting Actress» for Zoe Saldana. The movie tells the story of lawyer Rita, who receives an unexpected proposal: to help drug cartel leader Juan «Manitas» del Monte leave the criminal world by executing an extraordinary plan – changing his gender and becoming a woman.

In the «Best Motion Picture – Drama» category, the winner was «The Brutalist». Adrien Brody, who stars in the film, received the award for Best Actor, while Brady Corbet won Best Director.
There were also remarkable victories: Demi Moore won the coveted statuette for Best Actress for her role in «The Substance». This marks the first Golden Globe for the 62-year-old actress.

The award for «Best Screenplay» went to the film «Conclave».
The title of «Best Animated Feature» was awarded to «The Stream».
The series «Shogun» was recognized with several awards. It captivated critics and audiences alike with its epic story, described as «Game of Thrones» in the world of Japanese samurai. The series is based on real events of the 17th century, portraying the struggle for power after the death of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the «unifier of Japan». «Shogun» won in the following categories: Best Drama Series, Best Actor in a Drama Series, Best Actress in a Drama Series, and Best Supporting Actor in a Series.
