Official: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are divorced
After eight years of legal proceedings
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are officially divorced. After eight years of court battles, the former couple has finally reached an agreement regarding property division and joint custody of their children.
This was reported by James Simon, Jolie’s attorney. In a statement to People magazine, Simon shared that since the beginning of the divorce proceedings, his client has focused on «finding peace and healing for her family».
«This is just part of a long process that began eight years ago. Honestly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is glad this chapter has come to an end», the lawyer concluded.
To recall, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were one of Hollywood’s most famous couples. They began dating in 2005 while filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith. The couple lived together for seven years before announcing their engagement in 2012. They married on August 23, 2014.
The ex-couple has six children, three of whom are adopted. Rumors of trouble in their relationship surfaced in 2015. On September 19, 2016, Jolie filed for divorce citing «irreconcilable differences». In 2019, the court officially declared them divorced, but the issues of property division and child custody remained unresolved until now.
