Pharrell Williams becomes a UNESCO goodwill ambassador
An honorable mission!
American singer and Louis Vuitton creative designer Pharrell Williams has been appointed UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador in the fields of education, arts, and entertainment. The organization highly praised Williams’ multifaceted creativity, which spans «many forms of art,» including his role as the designer of Vuitton’s menswear collections.
The artist was formally honored during a ceremony at the organization’s headquarters in Paris, reports WWD.
«In my 51 years, I never dreamed I would stand at such a podium, in such a building», the artist admitted in his speech.
Williams emphasized his commitment to advancing education, even for people in challenging life situations. He stressed that the most important goal for improving the world’s situation is fostering unity.
«I bet on the youth. I bet on the children. I bet on the idea that all people who have been marginalized for generations will rise, come together, and realize that we are much stronger when united. It’s never too late to start thinking about what your dream is because your dream can pull you out of a very tough situation», the newly appointed ambassador said.
Pharrell believes that the more people with good intentions gain access to money and charitable resources, the more good they can do in the world.
