Metacritic named the Worst Movies of 2024
«Lumina» tops the list
The website Metacritic has compiled a list of the worst movies of 2024. The ranking includes films released in the United States between January 1 and December 31. Only films with more than four reviews on the site were considered for the ratings.
The list is topped by the sci-fi horror movie «Lumina», which became the only film this year to receive a score of fewer than ten points. «There are bad films, very bad films, and then there’s «Lumina» — a movie so captivating in its incompetence that one wonders if the creators were attempting to replicate the success of «The Room,» a critic from RogerEbert.com wrote.
Next on the list is the Mexican drama «City of Dreams». The story of a young soccer player kidnapped and forced to work at an underground factory in the U.S. had the potential to shed light on a real-world issue. However, critics believe that stereotypical characters and a convoluted script prevented the film from fully realizing its idea.
In third place is the action film «The Duchess» by British director Neil Marshall. «If you’ve ever wondered what a remake of ‘Beauty and the Beast’ written and directed by Guy Ritchie would look like, this film is for you,» noted a reviewer from Screen Rant.
