«We’re old and exhausted»: Halle Berry criticizes stereotypes about modern women

Calls for embracing aging naturally
58-year-old Hollywood actress Halle Berry is working to redefine the concept of aging and challenge society’s perceptions of it. The Oscar winner expressed her disappointment with current beauty standards and the fact that age remains a taboo topic for women.
Halle is frustrated that she is often judged solely based on her appearance.
«I have always known that I am more than just this shell I walk around in. I’ve always dreamed of someone telling me something other than, «Oh my God, you’re so beautiful!» I’d love to hear different words», — the actress shared in an interview with Fortune magazine.
The star highlighted the stark differences in how society treats men and women as they enter their later years.
«Men become sexy, they get gray hair, they turn into silver foxes. We’re just old and exhausted. Society has told us — or used to tell us — that our time is up, but I know we’re just beginning to find our way», — Berry emphasized, adding that she sees her mission as encouraging women to embrace aging naturally.
Regarding those who try to fight aging and conceal their true age, the actress remarked that «unfortunately, we turn ourselves into monsters».
