Selena Gomez Faces Another Serious Diagnosis

The Star Struggles with Gut Health Issues
American singer Selena Gomez frequently finds herself the target of online criticism, especially regarding her appearance. Social media users often criticize the 32-year-old celebrity’s fuller figure, using concern for her health as a pretext. Following her recent appearance at the premiere of «Emilia Perez» in Los Angeles, another body-shamer posted a TikTok video expressing displeasure with her physique, sparking a wave of comments from others eager to join the discussion and condemnation. But Selena didn’t stay silent — she responded sharply in the comments.
«This makes me sick. I have SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth). Sometimes it flares up. I don’t care that I’m not thin. My body’s not like that. End of story. No, I’m not a victim. I’m just human», — Gomez replied to the criticisms.
Symptoms of the condition Selena mentioned include bloating, abdominal pain, and digestive issues. Additionally, the singer has long battled a rare autoimmune disease — systemic lupus erythematosus. This chronic illness led to serious complications; in 2017, Gomez required a kidney transplant, with her friend Francia Raisa serving as the donor.
Recently, Gomez also disclosed that she might not be able to have children due to her health issues. In the future, she plans to consider alternative options, such as adoption or surrogacy. Nonetheless, in other respects, the singer is living her best life — enjoying her time with her partner, Benny Blanco, and receiving prestigious awards for her work.
