Cameron Diaz Explains Why She Left Her Acting Career

To Build a Family
Recently, Cameron Diaz attended Fortune magazine’s Most Powerful Women Summit in California. During the event, the 52-year-old star revealed why she decided to take a prolonged break from her career.
It turns out that the actress stepped away from Hollywood for 10 years to focus on building a happy family.
Her last role was in the 2014 movie Annie. A year later, Diaz married musician Benji Madden, and together they have two children.
«It was something I just had to do. I felt it was the right decision to reclaim my own life, and I simply didn’t care about anything else. No opinion, no success, no offer could change my decision to take care of myself and create the life I truly wanted», — the star shared.
It should be noted that during this time, Diaz was not idle. She authored two health books and, in 2020, launched her own organic wine brand, Avaline, with business partner Katherine Power.
However, she never intended to fully say goodbye to acting. She has already starred in Netflix’s upcoming action-comedy Back in Action with Jamie Foxx, set to premiere in January 2025.

Additionally, Diaz will lend her voice to the fifth installment of Shrek and is in talks to star in the comedy Outcome alongside Keanu Reeves.
According to the actress, many doubted she could return to the screen. As we can see, they were all mistaken.
